Job Vacancy: Columnist for LGBT Publication (Downtown Publications, Metro Detroit)

Post date: Thursday, August 16, 2012
We are looking for someone with a creative (and quite possibly edgy) writing style who can help capture gay life and issues in the metro Detroit area for a new monthly LGBT newsmagazine launching this fall. Not interested in just a political column but something more varied. We will pay a monthly fee for the column but this is a new launch so pay scale will not be great.

We are looking for someone who recognizes the opportunity to build a following as a columnist/writer. Need two samples of at least 700-800 words and a couple of paragraphs of why you think you can capture our interest and that of our readers. Yes, you must be a member of the LGBT community and you must live in either Oakland, Wayne or Macomb county. Work from home. Column can run on an anonymous basis if you prefer.

Ideally we would like to develop two columnists over time, one writing from the gay male and one the lesbian perspective. New publication will be part of Birmingham-based Downtown Publications.
