Call for Submissions from Women Poets: Dancing Girl Press Chapbook Series

Post date: Wednesday, July 25, 2012
Deadline: 31 August 2012

dgp is happy to accept manuscripts from women poets for publication in our annual chapbook series. We plan to publish 10-20 chapbooks per year chosen from the best of the manuscripts we receive. See about dancing girl press publications.

While we do not offer a monetary prize or payment for those manuscripts chosen to be published in the series, we do offer a payment of 10 copies of the chapbook to the authors chosen. We also offer generous discount (40%) on additional copies the author may wish to purchase.

GUIDELINES

Manuscripts must be between 12 and 32 pages, numbered accordingly, with only one poem per page. Due to logistical reasons, we no longer accept simultaneous submissions. We aim to keep your work no longer than three months. Please feel free to query us after that time has passed.

Submissions are accepted via e-mail as attachments in Microsoft word only. Please include "Chapbook Submission/LAST NAME" in your subject line.

Submissions are currently OPEN. Send all correspondence to dancinggirlpress@yahoo.com

DANCING GIRL AESTHETIC: If you're considering sending us a manuscript, it might help you to know what we're all about. We particularly look for work that has a strong sense of image and music, cohesiveness as a manuscript, interesting and surprising, sometimes unusual, use of language. We love humor when done well, strangeness, wackiness. Hybridity, collage, intertextuality. Manuscripts that create their own worlds.

CONTEMPORARY POETS WE LOVE: Larissa Spzorluk, Olena Kalytiak Davis, Christine Hume, Matthea Harvey Mary Ann Samyn, Sarah Manguso, Julianna Buchsbaum, Sabrinah Orah Mark, Simone Muench, Karen Volkman, CD Wright, Jean Valentine, Louise Gluck, Rita Dove, Carolyn Forche, Eavan Boland, Claudia Rankine.
