The Pink Pen Short Story Competition

PinkPen has been created by and for writers and readers of fiction, particularly members and supporters of the LGBTQ community. PinkPen runs quarterly short fiction competitions- the latest short story competition is now open and the theme is… Five to Midnight
  • 1st prize: £100 (plus publication of the winning story on for 12 months)
  • 2nd prize: £50
  • 3rd prize: £25

The deadline for entries is 3rd September 2012 but please note the competition is open to a maximum of 100 entries and will close sooner if the maxmum is reached earlier.

Your story should be submitted by email to Please include your story within the main body of the email (attachments will not be opened). If you wish to use a pen name please specify this at the top of your email.

The entry fee for this competition is £4.50. Entry fee payments should be made via PayPal to Winners will be notified by email by 1st October 2012

  • Write a short story on the given theme, up to a maximum of 2,000 words .
  • Give your story a title – which does not have to be the same as the given theme.
  • Compose an email to
  • Ensure the title and the name you wish to be published alongside the story is clearly stated at the top of your email.
  • Copy your story into the body of the email (we are unable to open attachments for security reasons).
  • Send it to us!
  • If you wish to enter more than once you will need to follow these steps twice, and we will identify your different entries by the titles you give your stories.
  • We will contact you with your result from the judging process within 20 working days from the competition deadline.
