Call for Short Play Submissions: Brown & Out

Please e-mail short play submissions as 1 PDF/MS Word file along with Playwright Application to Executive Producer Miguel Ortega-Garcia at (Please only 1 play per playwright)


· Only ten-minute plays/sketches/monologues written for the stage will be accepted (comedies and dramas)

· 15 pages maximum

· 8-10 characters maximum

· The play's story celebrates, embraces, and/or sheds new light on Latino/a LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) issues and experiences

· New works preferred and/or plays that have not been produced on the west coast or in Los Angeles

· Please note setting will be minimalistic for staging purposes

Brown & Out held its world-premiere on September 23, 2011 at Little Casa Theater in Boyle Heights. This annual theater showcase presents a combination of comedic and dramatic plays that celebrate the Latino/a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer experience. Its 2nd installment of plays will raise awareness about current events and key issues affecting the Latino/a LGBTQ community.

This year Brown & Out will premiere on September 21, 2012 and run for 4-weekends at the New Casa 0101 Theater, Casa 0101's new state of the art 99 seat theater located at 2102 E. 1st St., Los Angeles, CA 90033.
